Spring Air began in 1926 with Francis Karr and a coil design that responded to a sleeper’s weight and shape. His free-end offset coil helped establish a company built around improving the way a mattress supports the body.
Quilted sleep surfaces followed in 1948, the zoned Health Center mattress in 1953, and a pillow-top design in 1973. Today, that work continues in collections such as Back Supporter and Copper by Spring Air.
